Our History

Our story began when our founder, frustrated with the inconvenience of always switching between his steel caps and office boots, sought out a pair of Chelsea boots with steel toe caps. When he noticed that many working professionals had the same issue with no solutions on the market, the journey to create a Chelsea boot that combined safety with style began.

At Southbury, we are committed to designing products that are as visually appealing as they are functional, so you never have to choose between form and function.

We believe that great ideas can come from anywhere. If you have feedback on our products, we’d love to hear from you!

Our Brand Identity

Where does the name come from?

Southbury is proud to be 100% New Zealand owned, and we wanted a name that reflected that pride.

The idea for a steel cap boot that could double as a dress boot was born in two of New Zealand’s great regions: Southland and Canterbury. We combined "South" with "Bury" to create a name that ties back to both our heritage and our vision for craftsmanship.

Just like that, Southbury was born

And what about the logo?

Our logo, featuring the Bighorn Sheep, might seem simple at first glance, but there’s more to it. The Bighorn is one of nature’s finest climbers, effortlessly navigating the steepest terrain. In the same way, our boots—though modest in appearance—are designed to go beyond expectations.

We’ve often been told that what we’re doing couldn’t be done. But like the Bighorn, we’re committed to scaling the heights, no matter how steep the challenge might seem.
